Pp Monitor comes up in 3 chapters across 3 episodes of Podcasting 2.0, from May 2026 to August 2026.
The hosts review the Podping Monitor (PP Monitor) to check the status of the current node mesh. They identify and "shame" users running outdated software versions while noting a surprising version 0.12.1 fork appearing to run on TempleOS.
Dave Jones demonstrates the PP Monitor website, which visualizes the "jiggly blob" of nodes in the Podping mesh network. He discusses node connectivity, the use of the mainline DHT for swarm contact, and the natural drift of connectivity within the mesh.
The Podping gossip swarm is currently operating with 21 nodes and 18 active hosts, showing high stability over the last several months. Technical details are provided regarding the live tracking firehose, which uses a linked list of object storage files to allow users to ingest episode data without heavy API reliance.
